Blades of the Mantis: A Cyberpunk Mystery

Ten years after the first android uprising, the city has settled into uneasy peace. Humans now live alongside ‘replicants’, advanced humanoid bio-robots with personality and sentience. Some welcome them into society, and their co-existence has allowed for a flourishing of new culture and innovation. Others are intolerant and are actively hostile to their presence in the city. Replicants face prejudice and targeted violence, leading many to conceal their identities and pose as ordinary humans.

The city holds a centralized replicant registry but for their safety, this information is not public. Despite this, replicants do not hold the same rights as humans. They cannot inherit property, vote, qualify for minimum wage and may still be bought into indentured servitude. Replicants Rights Activists campaign for equal rights between both groups, with the most notable being a Generation V by the name of Jan Warrick, the first Replicant to campaign as a candidate for the Senate.

Two hours ago, Warrick was gunned down at a rally by an unidentified gunman who fled the scene before authorities could apprehend them. Riots and vigils have erupted throughout the city as supporters and activist’s clash and the L.A.P.D is tasked with both keeping the piece and hunting down the assassin.

In all this chaos, a figure known only as the Mantis, announces its presence to the city. 

This is a system-neutral cyberpunk investigative module compatible with most sci-fi and cyberpunk role-playing games. Included are 33 pages of scenes, evidence and combat set pieces as well as game master tools for optional encounters and increased difficulty and complexity.
